Necessary Documents for the Digital Nomad Visa

Applying for the Digital Nomad Visa requires a set of specific documents to ensure a smooth application process. Here’s what you’ll need:

1. A notarised power of attorney and application, which should include the name and nationality of the applicant’s parents.
2. Three photographs.
3. A properly collated copy of your passport.
4. A criminal record certificate.
5. A health certificate.
6. A sworn declaration of personal background.
7. A completed application form, which includes a commitment from the applicant to bear the costs of return or repatriation to their country of origin or destination, if necessary.
8. A copy of the applicant’s medical insurance policy, which should cover the applicant in Panama and be valid for the duration of their stay.
9. Certification or proof of the existence of the foreign company where the applicant is registered.
10. A letter from the company, on company letterhead, signed by the legal representative, which includes:
    1. The general data of the applicant.
    2. The position and functions performed by the applicant.
    3. The applicant’s monthly income, which should not be less than three thousand balboas (B/.3,000.00) or its equivalent in foreign currency, and confirmation that the income comes from a foreign source.
    4. The work modality (remote work).
    5. A commitment to bear the costs of return or repatriation to the applicant’s country of origin or destination, if necessary.
11. A sworn declaration of non-acceptance of job or service offers in Panama, signed by the applicant.
12. A payment of two hundred and fifty balboas (B/.250.00) in favor of the National Migration Service.

For self-employed or independent workers, additional documents are required:

Certification or proof of their own company, registered abroad, through which they will conduct their business.

1. A notarised sworn declaration describing the commercial relationship with the clients they serve, which should include the following data: full name, general information of the applicant and the clients, the services provided to the client, how much is earned for these services, the origin of the funds, and the frequency of payments received for the services provided.
2. Applicants for the Digital Nomad Visa must prove that their income comes from abroad, providing documents such as a bank certification or a bank statement from a foreign or local bank, which shows the transaction of funds and confirms that it is linked to the declared work condition.

To apply for an extension of the Digital Nomad Visa, the applicant must meet the same requirements as when first applying. However, those providing non-profit social services, participating in student exchanges, or working remotely may have their visa extended once for the same term and will be exempt from payment for migration services.
